If I had a penny for every time someone asked me how I made money from my blog then I would probably be retired by 30. Every time I tell someone I’m a blogger they always ask about money, always. There is so much confusion about what blogging is, how does it work, how you get paid, can you make living out of it? Also lots of bloggers will tell you that you should be passion about what you do, and that money will come that way…well I will tell you, from my experience that it doesn`t work that way.
Five years ago it was easier to start with blog because there wasn`t that much bloggers, but now, it`s harder because there are so many. But back then it was harder I think to be paid because people didn`t understood what there are paying and now they perfectly do. So as you can see each has its own story.
Also I would like to add that it`s ok if you want to make your blog profitable, because I know how much effort you put in it, and it`s perfectly ok if you want to be paid for that. Of course you should start your blog because you are passion about something, not because something is trendy like fashion or beauty, or anything that is not in line with you. And rule number 1 in blogging is to be patient and persistent.
This post is for people and for anyone who wants to know how to make their blog profitable if they weren’t quite sure what to do or where to go.
There are lots of options out there. I will point out that not all monetisation methods work on every single blog, and there is no “set way” to make money.
It’s probably (in my opinion) the best for beauty and fashion bloggers. I think that they get most of their income from affiliate marketing. This is when you earn a percentage of the sale when a reader clicks through and buys something via your special snowflake affiliate links. I personally like this type of marketing and I use it. There are many networks out there you could look into that provide affiliate marketing, so look around for the one that suits you best.
Ad networks are often more beneficial for blogs that have good/high traffic, as you are paid based on how many people see the advert or per page view. There are two popular types of ads: CPC/PPC ads: cost per click (also called pay per click) are usually banners that you place in your content or sidebar. Each time a reader click on the ad, you are paid for the click. But to be honest I haven`t tried this type of marketing. Selling Ads Yourself is also one of the options. Direct ad sales are a great way for smaller bloggers to get income. It might be a little more time consuming managing your own ads, but they can help build strong relationships with smaller brands. This is something that you should definitely try if you are new in blogging.
Sponsored posts are when a brand approaches you or you approach to the brand about posting specifically about their product for a fee. Sponsored posts can come in many forms, they can be about promoting an event, product placement, paid-for reviews, pictures of places, etc. Always, be honest and never take a sponsored post if you’re not into the product or brand.
